From Kyoto Prefectural Police Expressway Traffic Police Unit 

  • NO ENTRY allowed for hitchhikers in expressways or any passage leading up to tollgates.

  • A car which stops to pick up a hitchhiker on an expressway may be punished for the violation of Traffic Law in Japan.

  • Make sure to chose a safe place to take on a car.
