Child Care Support Allowance/ Special Child Care Support Allowance

Child Care Support Allowance

This allowance is provided to promote the stability and independence of single parent households raising children who do not live with both parents due to circumstances such as parental divorce, and to enhance the welfare of the children.

The age limit for eligible children is the end of the fiscal year in which they turn 18 years of age; however, children with moderate or severe disabilities are eligible until they turn 20 years of age.

There are income restrictions and limitations on concurrent receipt with public pensions. Additionally, for single-mother households, individuals who had met the eligibility requirements for more than five years prior to April 1, 2003 (e.g., those divorced or separated on or before March 31, 1998) are not eligible to apply.

For confirmation of eligibility, procedures, inquiries, etc., please contact your local city hall or town/village office (for residents within Kyoto City, please contact the welfare office at your ward or branch office).
