頭巾山  Mt.Tokin-zan

   

   頭巾山は、綾部市と南丹市にまたがり、北は福井県大飯郡おおい町に接する標高871mの非火山性孤峰です。 言い伝えによると，弘法大師の雨ごいの祈とうが行われた場所とされており、古くから水の守り神として、山麓の集落から尊崇を集めています。

　山中には府内有数のブナ林が見られ、シャクナゲの古木が生育しているとともに、ニホンカモシカ等の大型ほ乳類も生息するなど貴重な自然が残されています。 

　Mt.Tokin-zan is an isolated non-volcanic peak 871 meters high and straddling Ayabe and Nantan City of Kyoto Prefecture and Ohi Town of Fukui Prefecture. Legend holds that Kobo Daishi performed prayers for rain on the mountain, and in the villages around its base it has long been venerated as a seat of the guardian deity of water.

  The mountain slopes hold bountiful nature including one of the few beech forests in Kyoto Prefecture, ancient shakunage rhododendron trees, and communities of Japanese serow and other large mammals.
