Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine is one of the top three largest Hachimangu shrines in the country. It was transferred to the current location in 859 from Usa Shrine as protection against the unlucky southwest direction of the city. The main shrine is built in the rare Hachiman-zukuri style and is designated a national valuable cultural property.
Otokoyama Cherry Festival is held in early April, and Iwashimizu Festival on September 15th.
This is a Japanese garden associated with Shokado Shojo, whose work, part of the glamorous Kanei culture, flourished in the early Edo era. This 22,000-square-meter garden consists of Roji Garden and Karesansui Garden as well as Soan Tearoom and Shokado House, which create tasteful scenery. Visitors can enjoy the four seasons through plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, green leaves and autumn leaves, and appreciate their relaxing effects.
